Hussein is the founder and director of Mona Hussein Design House (MHDH) and Mahally. Both companies offer a wide range of design services, including interior, landscaping and product design, architecture and branding.

AUC, USAID Celebrate the Inauguration of Two University Centers for Career Development at Alexandria University

AUC recently celebrated the opening of two University Centers for Career Development (UCCDs) at Alexandria University's Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Engineering, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Momen El Husseiny, assistant professor in the Department of Architecture, decided to take experiential learning to a new level. He took his Urban Design and Landscape Architecture students on a bike ride around the outdoor spaces surrounding campus to discuss the infrastructure of bikeways in the city and how to think of sustainable mobility, instead of just displaying the information on projectors inside the classroom.

The Buzz About HIVE

Last spring, a group of students presented their ideas on building an energy-efficient business center to their architecture class at AUC. Four group members were presenting, but only three were present. The fourth student joined them through a video conference call — not because she was sick — but she was in Arizona. The HIVE Program, or Harnessing Innovation through Virtual Exchange launched with students from AUC and the University of Arizona (UA) to share a class through virtual exchange.

Chemistry Program, with All Specializations, Receives Renewed Accreditation

The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) has renewed its accreditation for AUC’s Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with all its specializations, for five years –– the maximum period for accreditation. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with specializations in the petrochemical industry, clinical chemistry and food chemistry, will receive a formal accreditation certification from CSC, in addition to a complementary one-year membership of the organization.
