Chemistry Program, with All Specializations, Receives Renewed Accreditation

The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) has renewed its accreditation for AUC’s Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with all its specializations, for five years –– the maximum period for accreditation. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in chemistry, with specializations in the petrochemical industry, clinical chemistry and food chemistry, will receive a formal accreditation certification from CSC, in addition to a complementary one-year membership of the organization.

AUC Students Win Public Inspiration Award in International SensUS Competition

A group of AUC students won the Public Inspiration Award at the SensUS 2018 Competition recently held at the Technology University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. With a Master of Science in nanotechnology, Menna Hasan (MSc ’18) is the first AUC graduate of Al Ghurair STEM Scholars Program.Hasan, who received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Alexandria University, came out of AUC not only with a degree, but an impactful experience accumulated over the course of two years. In fact, creativity fosters science and vice versa. “Science and medicine offer unprecedented opportunities for discovery and, most importantly, alleviating human suffering, … and creativity and innovation … [are] essential for achieving any target in research," Yacoub affirmed in his speech titled “Creativity: An Illusive Target" at AUC's 2018 Research and Creativity Convention.

AUC Promotes Education for Sustainable Development in Egyptian Schools

In the midst of growing movements toward educational change in Egypt, AUC’s Center for Sustainable Development has launched a project, titled School of 2030: Education for Sustainable Development in Boulaq El Dakrour – EduCamp III. The project’s main objective is to transform education in Egypt by building schools in areas of informal settlement that meet the goals of the country’s larger sustainable development strategy, known as Egypt Vision 2030.

EduCamp Project Integrates Sustainability in Egyptian Public Schools

Ending a three-year pilot project to introduce sustainability concepts in Egyptian public schools, AUC’s Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), in cooperation with the Education for Sustainable Development Beyond the Campus (EduCamp) consortium, handed over Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) school kits to the Ministry of Education for implementation in public schools across the country.
