AUC architecture students recently participated in the sponsored studio "Creating Lively Communities," where they presented urban design proposals to a jury for a site owned by NAMAA Real Estate.
Earlier this month, 15 AUC theatre students traveled to Berlin to participate in the 19th Festival International New Drama (FIND) at the Schaubühne Theatre. Other participating universities included New York University, The New School and the Paris Conservatory, as well as universities in Germany and Belgium.
This week, the Office of Sustainability and the Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability are celebrating AUC’s EarthWeek, an annual event celebrating international Earth Day. This year’s theme is EarthWeek: A Sustainable Second Century, focusing on the past, present, and future of sustainability and environmental outreach at AUC. All week, there will be a food, energy and water greenhouse set-up on Bartlett Plaza, where students, faculty and staff can learn about hydroponics, aquaponics and solar panels.
The first-of-its-kind in Egypt and the Arab world, AUC's undergraduate data science program will begin in September 2019, leading to a Bachelor of Science in data science.
News@AUC got the opportunity to sit down with one of Egypt’s leading interior designers and jury member for the AUC-TAMEER Water Tower Competition, Mona Hussein ’83, to learn more about her goals, why she decided to pursue interior design, her advice to future AUC graduates and more.
Hussein is the founder and director of Mona Hussein Design House (MHDH) and Mahally. Both companies offer a wide range of design services, including interior, landscaping and product design, architecture and branding.
AUC recently celebrated the opening of two University Centers for Career Development (UCCDs) at Alexandria University's Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Engineering, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). These mark the seventh out of 20 UCCDs to be established in 12 public universities in Greatr Cairo, the Delta and Upper Egypt, benefiting more than 1 million students.
