NCEES Exam

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is responsible for licensing engineers in the United States. Candidates must complete two of their examinations in order to be licensed as a professional engineer within the United States: the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and the Principles and Practices of Engineering Exam (PE).
ESS is currently the only organization in Egypt authorized to work with NCEES. We provide guidance and examination services for the FE and PE exams.

Step 1: Identifying whether your degree is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET
Candidates are advised to check the ABET-accredited program search to identify whether their degree is ABET-accredited. At the time of writing, there are two Egyptian universities with ABET-accredited degree programs:

If your degree isn't from an accredited program at either of these universities, then you must first request a credentials evaluation from the NCEES to identify any deficiencies.

General Education Courses

ESS, with the approval of the NCEES, offers general education courses designed to fulfill general education deficiencies that may be identified during the NCEES evaluation process. Candidates may contact AUC-ESS at [email protected] t: +20.2.2615.2667/2664 in order to learn more about these courses, in addition to visiting the general education courses page.

Once the deficiencies have been fulfilled, candidates will have to re-evaluate their credentials with the NCEES. 

Step 2: The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is the first exam in the licensing process. To register for this exam, candidates must have an ABET-accredited degree or should have completed the NCEES credit evaluation process. Successfully completing the FE exam earns the candidate the right to the "engineer in training" professional designation.  

Step 3: The Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) exam
Successful completion of this exam is the final step toward getting licensed as a professional engineer by the NCEES. To register for this exam, candidates must have completed the FE exam in addition to having four years of approved engineering experience.

This exam is the first that relates to the professional engineer license and is a prerequisite for the PE exam. Candidates who successfully complete this exam prove their knowledge of how multiple fields relate to engineering, as well as their understanding of the ethical standards that must be applied to engineering work in order to ensure public safety.

We collaborate with the NCEES and provide various services to assist and guide those who are interested in completing the FE exam, as well as offering the examination itself at our test center.

Successful completion of this exam is the final step toward licensure as a professional engineer. Candidates must first complete the FE exam, as well as gain practical experience working under the supervision of a professional engineer, in order to be eligible for the exam. This exam tests a candidate's ability to practice his or her engineering field competently.

Engineering and Science Services collaborates with the NCEES and provides various services to assist and guide those who are interested in completing the PE exam, as well as offering the examination itself at the ESS test center.
