Research and Architecture Research Labs

EVE lab is the pedagogical benefit it presents to both undergraduate and graduate students at SSE and AUC at large. The premise is that VR/AR would enhance learning activities with realism, complex interdisciplinary teamwork and reflective/adaptive opportunities, and in effect, instill better performance in the learning activities of students, assessments and key performance indicators targeted in the courses, and ultimately, the learning outcomes.

AUC funded the Robotic Fabrication Lab (RFL) through the Provost Office. This effort was launched in 2018. After some procurement delays, the robotic arm (the main piece of equipment in the lab) was delivered to AUC premises in April 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and space allocation challenges, the robotic arm was installed in February 2022, marking the launch of the Robotic Fabrication Laboratory (RFL) at the Department of Architecture.

NextARCH Lab is a built-environment research center that studies architecture and urbanism in Egypt and the region today.

NextARCH Lab facilitates linking events, exhibitions, workshops, and dialogues that act as opportunities for encounter and critical dialogue between various stakeholders of the built environment. This runs in conjunction with the Lab’s online platforms, consisting of online discussion boards and social media platforms where all stakeholders can continue to expand on existing dialogues and present the community with new questions.

BSL offers a variety of experimental and testing methods that connect the theory of building physics and materials with architectural design and applications. The lab can provide advisory support in sustainable building design and delivery.
