About Architecture Department
Mission
Our mission is to prepare responsible agents of change who can impact the field through their strong critical and creative problem-solving skills, their ability to easily cross geographic and political boundaries, aided by high sensitivity for socio-cultural dimensions and values, their technological proficiency, and their strong communication and leadership skills.
Vision
We envision the Department of Architecture as the leading hub for a critical global local discourse on the future of architecture in our region.
History, Inauguration, and Accreditation
- 2007: Launch of the Architectural Engineering major by the Department of Construction and Architectural Engineering.
- 2011: Graduation of the first cohort of Architectural Engineering students.
- 2012: Approval and recognition of the Architectural Engineering degree by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities to be equivalent to its Egyptian counterparts.
- 2014: International validation of the Architectural Engineering degree by the International Union of Architects (UNESCO/UIA).
- 2016: Inauguration of the Department of Architecture.
- 2017: Unconditional revalidation of the program by the International Union of Architects (UNESCO/UIA).
- 2018: Renewal of equivalency of the Architectural Engineering degree by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities.
- 2019: Unconditional revalidation (5 years) of the Architectural Engineering program by the International Union of Architects (UNESCO/UIA).
- 2019: Launch of the Minor in Design of Interior Spaces program jointly with the Department of the Arts.
- 2020: Launch of the Master of Science in Architecture program.
- 2022: Approval of eligibility for initial candidacy by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and recognition of the program as Bachelor of Architecture (BArch).
- 2023: Approval of initial candidacy status by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and renewal of equivalency of the degree by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities.
