DeVilag Service Offices

One of the main objectives of the DeVilag project is to establish service offices at the Egyptian partner universities: The American University in Cairo (AUC), Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development (HU), Cairo University, and Fayoum University (FYM). The goal is to provide technical support for different stakeholders from the rural community like farmers or entrepreneurs, governmental bodies such as extension services and rural sectors, and the private sector's agriculture SMEs. 

The DeVilag Service Offices (DSO):

  • Provide rural communities with support on sustainable agriculture intensification, increasing production, marketing, exporting, and others. It can also help young entrepreneurs in developing their start-ups and find their way in the market.  

  • Provide regular information sessions for different target groups. Topics could be agriculture intensification and migration, food security, organic agriculture and export, market analysis, agriculture-related start-ups, water-energy-food nexus, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and Egypt’s Vision 2030. 

  • Provide technical training sessions for government officials and/or private sectors (e.g., water analysis, irrigation efficiency, biodynamic agriculture, food quality, international food standards, etc.).

  • Support the university departments to have access to real-world problems, especially those related to migration, agriculture, and rural development. 

  • Make use of the university infrastructure and know-how to help the community achieve the country’s strategy. 

DSO-AUC office will offer the following services:
