About Youssef Jameel Science and Technology Center (YJ-STRC)
YJ-STRC was established in 2003 through a generous donation from Yousef Jameel '68. At that time there were no research facilities in Egypt capable of developing micro/nano devices. Jameel had the vision to create a center of excellence in the field of nanotechnology at AUC. To achieve this goal with the limited resources available, the faculty of the School of Sciences and Engineering formulated an initiative to realize that objective.
Our Mission
The Yousef Jameel Science and Technology Research Center at The American University in Cairo is an interdisciplinary center that draws on the expertise of the university’s engineering and science departments. Our mission is to establish an internationally competitive research activity at AUC resourced and supported to the highest standards.
Our Objectives
The YJ-STRC was established to promote research at AUC. Bringing together a qualified group of scientists and engineers since its inception in Fall 2003, the center has experienced a spectacular rate of growth. It is now a very visible feature of AUC, and is increasingly gaining national and international recognition.
