Since the study of architecture relies on cognitive and learning skills, the purpose of the AAA is to assess the readiness of candidates applying from high school to architectural engineering in regards to their analytical and imagination capabilities, as well as their freehand drawing skills.
The test is composed of two parts:
- Part One (45min): Multiple choice questions to test the analytical and imagination capabilities
- Part Two (60 min): A freehand drawing exercise
The result of your Aptitude Assessment for Architecture is added to your high school score to arrive at a combined score where the high school score represents 80 percent, and the Aptitude Assessment for Architecture represents 20 percent. Applicants are ranked according to this combined score.
The exact dates and times are announced by the Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies of the School of Sciences and Engineering and the Department of Architecture.
No, each student has the right to sit for the test only once.
You do not need to do any preparation for the test. You just need to come on the test date ready for answering analytical and cognitive questions and drawing freehand simple objects.
The University will provide all the tools and supplies that are needed for the test (pencils, erasers and drawing paper). If you prefer to use your own tools, you can bring them with you for the test.
Yes. The results of the AAA will be posted on a bulletin board of the Department of Architecture after completion of grading.
You will receive an email from the Office of Enrollment and Student Services informing you with your admission status, as soon as the admission cycle of your high school certificate is complete.
In case you are not accepted from the gate, there is still a possibility to declare architectural engineering after enrollment at AUC. Declaration from within AUC depends on the satisfaction of declaration criteria. For more information on the requirements of the declaration of the architectural engineering major for students who are already enrolled at AUC, either undeclared or wanting to transfer from other majors, click here.
